“My daughter just started first grade at GOK. It has been a week, and I am very disappointed. They have not read a single book (my daughter reads at about second grade level and is bored). Even more troubling, they have instituted 'everyday math', a program that has received scathing reviews and has been rejected by the California school systems twice because it is not rigorous enough and does not prepare kids for later math. The homework appears to be easier than what she was doing six months ago in Montessori kindergarten. Everyone at GOK is very friendly--that's definitely true. But academically, I really wish we had left her in Montessori.”

“My two sons, 4th grade and 2nd grade, have been at GOK only a few months, though I've been impressed with the school so far. The library and the librarian, Annie Huggins, are incredible. The homework in 2nd grade is very easy compared to what we were used to in parochial school -- not much challenge. The 4th grade curriculum does offer some challenges. Students have P.E. once a week, music once a week, but I don't think there is an art teacher. Parents seem very involved and have many opportunities to volunteer if they want. Overall, we are happy with the school”

“My two children have attended Georgia O'keeffe Elementary from Kinder through 3rd grade. We have had a wonderful experience while there. Teachers: nurturing and inovative. My children continue to love school. Parent involvement: welcomed and encouraged at school or home. I volunteered in the classrooms and library at least 3 days a week. The principle: outstanding, benefit of the students as her top priority, open to new ideas teachers/parents have to increase student learning, gets the job done. i.e. The state mandated full day kindergarten, but did not provide extra funding. On the first day of kindergarten, my son had a room, books, furniture and a fabulous, experienced teacher. Negatives--the state does not fully fund art, music, language classes, but our school extends the programs slightly, academic curriculum is not as rigorous as other states.”
